Get Involved In the Prayer Room!

Dr. Tom Hicks

The prayer room at Morningview is a ministry designed to assist members in praying for one another.  It has a system of keeping track of prayer requests and how God answers those requests over time.  Our church covenant at Morningview commits us to pray for one another, and the prayer room is one way we can keep each other accountable to do that.  Being involved in the prayer room will help you to know the needs of your brothers and sisters in Christ.  It will also allow you to benefit from the blessing of how God answers prayer in our midst.

When you sign up, we will contact you with further information about how to access the prayer room (the door code) and get you information about how the prayer room works.  We understand that everyone has different responsibilities; so, not everyone can give an hour each week to the prayer room.

Among the slots available, we have:
Tuesday    3:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Thursday    2:00 pm – 7:00 pm
Friday              11:00 am – 9:00 pm
Saturday         6:00 am – 9:00 pm

GOING FORTH WITH THE GOSPEL

Dr. Shawn Merithew

Every single day of my life, I am humbled by 3 things:  The grace of Christ that I could never merit, the blessing of my wife and children in whom I see the smile of God, and the privilege I have been given to shepherd Morningview Baptist Church.  I truly love our church.  I love you because you are sources of wisdom and encouragement Continue reading

Missions Minute

Heidi Callahan

Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them, and those who are mistreated, since you also are in the body. (Hebrews 13:3, ESV)

November 8 is the day of this year’s missions conference with Bob Sjogren.  It is also the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church.  This year, on the second Sunday in November, our church will participate in this day of prayer again.  We will have 24 hours of continuous prayer for the persecuted church on November 8.  If you wish to participate please contact Judd Hough at 284-5567 to sign up for an hour of prayer.  Judd will provide you with a time slot that works for your schedule and a prayer guide to help direct your prayer during that hour.  Please prayerfully consider the exhortation of the author of Hebrews to remember those who are in prison and mistreated since we also are in the body.

FASTING, PRAYER, AND SOME GREAT IMMEDIATE NEEDS

Dr. Shawn Merithew

I has been a supreme joy to me to be able to work through the first 18 verses of Matthew 6 over the past several Sunday mornings.  Giving emphasis again to prayer has been especially significant, because I believe this is an area where our church family has great potential to deepen and grow.   And if we add the discipline of fasting to our prayer lives, I know God will draw us deeper still.

As I said on Sunday morning, the reward for fasting and prayer is personal conformity to God’s will and person, a clearer picture of His splendor, and a stronger confidence Continue reading

Developing the Habit of Deeper Prayer

Dr. Shawn Merithew

Prayer is, without question, one of the central graces of the Christian life.  It is a God-given avenue for us to communicate and commune with God in a manner that transcends any other relationship we could ever experience.  It is truly an awesome gift from our Father.  Yet it is a gift that so many of us fail to rightly enjoy.  It is a gift that goes largely underutilized in our day-to-day lives.

There are many reasons for our failures in prayer which I set forth in my sermon Sunday.  We think we don’t know how to pray or that we’re not good at it.  We let worldly concerns and pursuits choke out the vitality Continue reading

Get Involved in the Prayer Room Ministry

Dr. Tom Hicks

We are God’s family, and like all families, we have family responsibilities that have to be accomplished each day to keep the church home functioning.  One of the most important tasks, and one of the easiest to perform, is prayer.  We need you in our Intercessory Prayer Room.  There are many one-hour slots available.  You may not be physically able to do some of the other jobs in the church, but you can pray.  I realize that some of you can’t get to the prayer room.  In that case, I would ask that you earnestly pray for this ministry, and that all our vacant time slots will be filled.  In prayer, God will use you to bless others, and He will bless you for it!  Call Tom Hicks or me to find your special opportunity (time slot) to serve.

In Christ,

Barbara Holly
